JESUS, I WILL FOLLOW ONLY YOU

Though the sun may follow dawn of day,
Though the evening leads the dew,
As a cry does follow newborn babes,
I will follow only You.

Though the moon may lead the sea to shore,
Though old may follow new,
As the heavens tell the stars to shine,
I will follow only You.

Though lightning leads the thunder’s blow,
Though rain leads colors’ hue,
As watered ground leads seeds to life,
I will follow only You.

As feathered flocks will follow south,
As the eagle follows few,
As the universe must heed Your voice,
I will follow only You.

YOU’RE STRETCHING ME, OH LORD, MY GOD

THE CRY

You’re stretching me, dear Lord, my God.
You’re pulling at my soul.
It’s far too much for me to bear,
It’s taking quite a toll.

Through tears, the life pours from my eyes.
Deep within me, sorrow lies.
Rushing waves of anger rise.
Forgive me Lord, my faith subsides.

You’re stretching me, dear Lord, my God.
You’re pulling at my soul.
It’s far too much for me to bear,
It’s taking quite a toll.

Pain within me now resides.
Its aim has been to paralyze.
The load is such I can’t abide.
I pray that You relieve my stride.

THE SUBMISSION

My Holy Father spoke to me
And slowly I began to see:

I know the burden that you bear,
I know your pain for I also share.
In love, I suffered for your sin
So you’d possess the power within

To look beyond transgression’s face.
See, I was once there in your place.
Yet, with My blood the price was paid.
My body scarred so you’d be saved.

So by My grace, now you may live.
To abide in Me, you must forgive.
The path is set. I’ve paved the way.
Be like My Son, as I’ve heard you pray.

THE REVELATION

Oh Father, I remember now.
I pray that You would show me how
To be like Jesus, this I’d say:
“Please teach me how to walk His way.”

I’ll gladly take this cross to bear.
As an act of love and an answered prayer,
Keep stretching me, dear Lord, my God.
Keep pulling at my soul.

Christ strengthens me to do all things.
In this, I am consoled.
Keep teaching me to walk His way,
To trust in You and never stray.

Please give me eagles’ wings to soar
and draw me closer to You, Lord.
For there I’m in Your perfect will,
Of love and peace… forever still.

THE EYES IN THE SKIES ( A Mother’s Prayer)

As your probing eyes gazed up at skies:
“Are there angels looking down?”
Now your thoughts of play are tucked away
And quiet is the sound.

On streets once made of Sesame:
“See, I can tie my shoe!”
Your dress-up play is gone today,
Your ninja turtles, too!

Childhood stories read aloud,
As precious as can be.
If I could find my way through time,
I’d bring you home to me.

Sweet kisses followed bedtime prayers
With “Love you” hugs so tight.
I held you close and dried your tears
And tried to make it right.

So now, I lay me down to sleep,
I bow my head and then I weep:
“Hush my fears, don’t say a word
For a mother’s prayers are always heard.”

You are Mommy’s little helper –
With energy and spark,
Uniquely wound with life abound,
You’re sure to make your mark.

You are Mommy’s little big man –
Your growing strong and tall.
You’re building dreams from simple things
With a mind that masters all.

You are Mommy’s little sunshine,
such A bright and shining star.
when you Find your way, you’ll never stray
and your light will travel far.

As probing Eyes from above the skies
See my tears that are falling down:
“Your dreams today are just prayers away,
So quiet now the sound.”

THE SECRET PLACE

There is a place where I retreat…
Where sorrow’s cry meets joy and peace…
All tears subside and woes must cease…
In my Secret Place.

A fragrant breeze blows gently there…
It runs its fingers through my hair…
The floral blooms entice the air…
In my Secret Place.

For there is the only place I know
Where wars are won and triumphs flow
On bended knees for friend and foe
In my Secret Place.

No pain I feel, though Blood I see…
My spirit soars, my soul runs free…
A gift of Love for eternity…
In my Secret Place.

Now when I’m there, let truth be told,
Someone’s dancing with my soul
and lovingly He takes a hold
In my Secret Place.
