YOU’RE STRETCHING ME, OH LORD, MY GOD

THE CRY

You’re stretching me, dear Lord, my God.
You’re pulling at my soul.
It’s far too much for me to bear,
It’s taking quite a toll.

Through tears, the life pours from my eyes.
Deep within me, sorrow lies.
Rushing waves of anger rise.
Forgive me Lord, my faith subsides.

You’re stretching me, dear Lord, my God.
You’re pulling at my soul.
It’s far too much for me to bear,
It’s taking quite a toll.

Pain within me now resides.
Its aim has been to paralyze.
The load is such I can’t abide.
I pray that You relieve my stride.

THE SUBMISSION

My Holy Father spoke to me
And slowly I began to see:

I know the burden that you bear,
I know your pain for I also share.
In love, I suffered for your sin
So you’d possess the power within

To look beyond transgression’s face.
See, I was once there in your place.
Yet, with My blood the price was paid.
My body scarred so you’d be saved.

So by My grace, now you may live.
To abide in Me, you must forgive.
The path is set. I’ve paved the way.
Be like My Son, as I’ve heard you pray.

THE REVELATION

Oh Father, I remember now.
I pray that You would show me how
To be like Jesus, this I’d say:
“Please teach me how to walk His way.”

I’ll gladly take this cross to bear.
As an act of love and an answered prayer,
Keep stretching me, dear Lord, my God.
Keep pulling at my soul.

Christ strengthens me to do all things.
In this, I am consoled.
Keep teaching me to walk His way,
To trust in You and never stray.

Please give me eagles’ wings to soar
and draw me closer to You, Lord.
For there I’m in Your perfect will,
Of love and peace… forever still.
